Year 1
This week we have been learning about weighing and we have been writing stories with really exciting middles! Next week we'll be learning outside again because we are going to find out about capacity. If you have any empty plastic bottles, yoghurt pots etc of different shapes and sizes please send them in! Please can your child come to school with a hat everyday. Of course, Year 1 are all very excited about Move Up Day next week, as they all become Year 2 and we are sure they will have a busy and exciting day in their new classes on Tuesday. Today we say "Goodbye" to both Miss Melon and Miss Saunders who have been learning how to be teachers in Ladybird and Magpie classes over the last few weeks. They are both now "real" teachers and we wish them well in their careers!
Year 2
Thank you for all the cereal boxes for our project. We now have enough so thank you very much. The shoe boxes that we received have been made into a habitat for mini-beasts and these are now on our investigation tables. Nower Wood was fantastic! The children enjoyed lots of fun and games linked to our topic as well as pond dipping and searching for mini-beasts. It really brought the science topic of 'variation' to life and the children are really motivated and keen to learn more. A special thank you must go to the parents who offered to help on the trip. Your assistance was really valuable. Next week the children will be thinking about their new schools with Tuesday being the day that they visit Hermitage school. Our literacy work will be based on them talking about their school and what they might be doing. Please do also check that your child's clothes are clearly named as it is very easy for them to become lost on a hot day when everyone takes their jumpers off. We are very short of helpers in Year Two. Please see your child's teacher if you are able to help. Thank you for your support. The Year Two Team. Homework Challenge What are you looking forward to best in your new school? Draw a picture and maybe explain what it is in a sentence or two. |
