Year 1
We've been pretending to be Dinosaur Zoo Keepers this week and have been working out which dinosaurs will fit into various parts of the playground. This has involved lots of measuring and recording. Can you believe that a diplodocus will just about fit into the main playground! In literacy we've been improving sentences using juicy words. Our favourites seem to be ginormous, humongous and beautiful. We worked very hard to think of words more interesting than 'big' and 'nice'! We have also been talking about characters and settings, changing the main characters and settings of a story. There were all sorts of ideas, from an alien on the moon to an ice cream man at the beach. Next week we will be chefs, making biscuits in maths, and authors, writing stories in literacy. HOMEWORK CHALLENGE Find the heaviest thing in your kitchen food cupboard. Is it the biggest? Can you draw it and write how much it weighs? |

Year 2
Thank you for all the cereal boxes for our project. We still need more over the next week so please carry on collecting. Can you please see if you have a shoe box at home for us to use for a short term slug's habitat. We need as many as possible before Wednesday. Next week we are going to Newer Wood. Fox class will be going on Monday, Rabbits on Thursday and Owl Class on Friday. We will be leaving promptly, so please ensure your child is at school on that day by 8.45 am at the very latest. A reminder that the children should wear long sleeved tops and trousers (no shorts), sensible shoes (No open sandals), sun hats and a suitable waterproof jacket. The children also need to bring in welly boots ( named and in a carrier bag) if the weather has been wet. ALL CHILDREN SHOULD BRING A PACKED LUNCH in a named plastic carrier bag with two plastic bottles of drink. Please do also check that your child's clothes are clearly named as it is very easy for them to become lost on a hot day when everyone takes their jumpers off. Owl Class are short of a parent helper for Nower Wood on Friday 26th June. If you would be able to help please let Mrs Sheppard know. We are very short of helpers in Year Two. Please see your child's teacher if you are able to help. Thank you for your support. The Year Two Team. Homework Challenge Go on a mini-beast hunt in your garden or park. Draw anything you find and label the parts.
