Year 1
It has been a week packed with science experiments, investigations and amazing discoveries! We have been learning how to make things move without touching them and we've explored the different forces in the world around us. Lots of our experiments involved water so we helped our teachers by investigating which material soaked up water the best. Thanks for all the cardboard tubes we received, we were able to make marble runs as tall as tables and as exciting as a rollercoaster. This afternoon we watched coca cola fountains and used rilm canister pots to make rockets! Next week we will be showing out teachers how whizzy we are at maths and looking at how to make our sentences even more exciting. The coin race will take place on May 22nd so start collecting! HOMEWORK CHALLENGE If you have any pictures of your mummies, daddies or even grandparents at the seaside when they were children we would love to see them! Make sure you put your names on them!
Year 2
The children are all working very hard in Year Two but having lots of fun along the way. They sometimes seem a little tired with working so hard and may need a little extra more sleep than usual.. We have been learning about circuits in science and the children find this work really exciting. In Numeracy our work has been focused on money, addition and subtraction. Any help you can give them at home with these skills would be very valuable. In literacy we are thinking about what makes an exciting story. Please can you read with your child as many exciting stories at home. They could then tell you what they enjoyed about the story and why it was exciting. Please check that your child's clothes are clearly named as it is very easy for them to become lost on a hot day when everyone takes their jumpers off. We are very short or helpers in Year Two. Please see your child's teacher if you are able to help. Thank you for your support. The Year Two Team. Homework Challenge Can you practise your measuring skills at home. Find things that are different lengths and heights. Which is the tallest? How tall? How many metres? Which is the longest? How long? How many centimetres? |
