Year 1
Year 1 have been busy all week reading, discussing and writing about the books we have been reading in our Literacy lessons. You would be surprised just how many things we have in common with the characters in some stories, just how many things in one story can often remind us of other stories we have read and just how much we can learn about the world by reading! In Maths we have found out about tens and units and been using our knowledge to add numbers together. We've used numbers to play some games too! Ask your children to show you how to play Number line Football with a dice and one counter, or Blast Off - finding the difference with a pack of playing cards! Next week is going to be very exciting! With our trip to Milestones Museum to find out about Homes in the Past and then, on Friday, our annual Spring Fair. If those parents who have kindly agreed to come with us to Milestones on Wednesday could please meet us for just about 10 minutes on Monday afternoon at 3.15 pm in Ladybird Class, we will run through the plan for the day with them. On Friday the children will be running the stalls at the Spring Fair. It is part of our Life Skills curriculum enabling the children to work as a team to achieve a common goal. Every child will be helping on their class stall for about 10-15 minutes at sometime during the afternoon - please come along and help your child do their bit for their class! They will be very busy in the run-up to the Fair, advertising, pricing, sorting etc and they will be so disappointed not to get their turn at taking the money! INVITATIONS FOR THE GRANDPARENTS FESTIVAL WILL FOLLOW SHORTLY - but please remember that the date for this popular event is FRIDAY 3RD APRIL so maybe an advance call to let Grandparents put the date in their diary would be a good idea! |

Year 2
Well done to all the children who completed their riddle homework last week. It was great to read all the different kinds of riddles and provided a good starter for the work that the children have been doing this week. Next week we will be writing riddles about household electrical objects and the homework challenge is linked to this. In Numeracy our work is still focused on division and multiplication. Can you do lots of counting in steps of 2, 5 and 10 with your child , which will help with this work. Please, please, please do come and see our display on how to be a sailor in the Entrance Hall. The children have all made their own information booklets which can be found in their own class's treasure chest. They really are interesting! Helpers are always welcome in Year Two. Please see your child's teacher if you are able to help. Thank you for your sup port. The Year Two Team. Homework Challenge Choose an item in your house such as a washing machine, microwave or television. Can you draw it and then write as many describing words as you can around your drawing. Spring Fair - Friday 20th March The children are beginning to plan for the Spring Fair. Advertising will start next week and board meetings will have to be held to agree prizes and organisation. All money raised will go towards fittings for our new classroom Please ensure that you sign up to help your child man the stalls for 10 minutes. We are putting up a list outside the Eco Lobby and Reception on Monday so that you can sign up to help your child on the stall for 10 minutes.
We need donations during the week beginning Monday 16th March. We will be collecting the items indicated below in boxes outside the Eco Lobby or under the Reception Area Roof every day. We really need everyone to donate items not just the children in the class running the stall to make the Fair successful. Children's Tombola prizes and small prizes for Lucky Dip Easter Eggs Plants Cakes please bring these on the day of the Fair. Second Hand Toys and Books - please bring these on the day of the Fair. JAM JARS - We will be holding a competition for the class with the most filled Jam Jars. Children can bring in Jam Jars any day during the week and take them straight to their classroom. A small prize will be awarded to the class with the most jars on Friday 20th March. There will be one or two jars displayed next week in the Eco Lobby for those people new to the school. On the day of the Fair the main front entrance door will be open from 1 .30 pm for Year 1 and 2 parents to enable you to collect your child from the classroom and wander around the fair. Reception parents will collect their children from the classrooms by using the side gate which will be open between 1.30pm and 1.45pm. Anyone coming to the Fair after 1 .45pm must use the front door. Everyone must leave the Fair by the front door to ensure the safety of all of our children. Please complete the form at the end of this letter so that we know when and where you will be collecting your child. If your child is not collected, they will be kept with their class teacher helping with their stall. If you are unable to attend the fair with your child perhaps you could approach another parent to let your child accompany them around the Fair. Due to Health and Safety concerns we cannot allow unaccompanied children to wander around the FairWe look forward to seeing you because we always have lots of fun.
