Year 1
In maths this week we have been seeing how we can use our block graphs to answer questions such as, "which colour crayons do we need more of?" and " which eye colour do we have most of in our class?" To answer we had to count them using a tally. Then we made block graphs and looked to compare our findings. Year 1 teachers now know which colour crayons they need to order! We have very much enjoyed sharing our favourite books in our reading time and are beginning to make links between our book and something else we have read. We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday and invited Mrs Alder to come and see if she could guess which character our hats represented! For their HOMEWORK CHALLENGE some of the children have not yet brought in pictures of their houses. Next week we will be comparing them so please, can everyone bring in a photograph. Thank you. |

Year 2
Well done to all the children who completed their literacy homework last week. It really helped those children who work with Miss Hogg. In Literacy this week we have been writing a World Adventure story. This has involved using our research skills to find out about different countries as well as all the skills we have been learning, to write an exciting story. This week also some children visited St Dunstans school on a maths challenge activity afternoon. This was a great success and enjoyed by all. Next week we will start learning about riddles. If you can help your child find a riddle in a book or on the internet for their homework challenge, this will help their understanding and make an interesting start to our lessons. Please, please, please do come and see our display on how to be a sailor in the Entrance Hall. The children have all made their own information booklets which can be found in their own class's treasure chest. They really are interesting! Friday is Red Nose Day and the children can all wear a red item of clothing. Can all the children In Rabbit Class also bring in something red to wear on Wednesday. It is our class assembly and we will be introducing the event. The Year Two children will be doing something funny to entertain the other children in the school. If your child would like to prepare something at home either by themselves or with friends there will be an opportunity for them to share their ideas with the rest of the school on Friday. Helpers are always welcome in Year Two. Please see your child's teacher if you are able to help. Thank you for your support. The Year Two Team. Homework Challenge Can you find an example of a riddle in a book, on the internet or from a grown-up. Write it in your best writing for your class riddle book.

Spring Fair - Friday 20th March The Spring Fair is on Friday 20th March and we are going to need your help please. The Spring Fair is organised by the children as part of their work on Citizenship. They will learn about the world of work and business principles in a fun way. The children will be advertising and marketing the Spring Fair, setting up stalls, pricing goods, helping to run the stalls (with your help), cashing up on Monday and learning a little about banking. Stalls will be in all of the classrooms. All money raised will go towards our new classroom. To enable the children to man the stalls we need 10 minutes of your time. We are putting up a list outside the Eco Lobby and Reception on Monday so that you can sign up to help your child on the stall for 10 minutes. It means 8 slots with 4 children on each slot.
We would be grateful for any donations during the week beginning Monday 16th March. We will be collecting the items indicated below in boxes in the Eco Lobby or under the Reception Area Roof every day. We really need everyone to donate items not just the children in the class running the stall to make the Fair successful. • Children's Tombola prizes and small prizes for Lucky Dip• Easter Eggs • Plants • Cakes — please bring these on the day of the Fair. • Second Hand Toys and Books - please bring these on the day of the Fair. • JAM JARS - We will be holding a competition for the class with the most filled Jam Jars. Children can bring in Jam Jars any day during the week and take them straight to their classroom. A small prize will be awarded to the class with the most jars on Friday 20th March. There will be one or two jars displayed next week in the Eco Lobby for those people new to the school. On the day of the Fair the main front entrance door will be open from 1 .30 pm for Year 1 and 2 parents to enable you to collect your child from the classroom and wander around the fair. Reception parents will collect their children from the classrooms by using the side gate which will be open between 1.30pm and 1.45pm. Anyone coming to the Fair after 1 .45pm must use the front door. Everyone must leave the Fair by the front door to ensure the safety of all of our children. Please complete the form at the end of this letter so that we know when and where you will be collecting your child. If your child is not collected, they will be kept with their class teacher helping with their stall. If you are unable to attend the fair with your child perhaps you could approach another parent to let your child accompany them around the Fair. Due to Health and Safety concerns we cannot allow unaccompanied children to wander around the FairWe look forward to seeing you because we always have lots of fun.
