Life Education BusThe children really
enjoyed visiting the Life Education Bus this week. We were impressed by the
way the children tackled the questions and challenges.
Night /AdventureHave you applied for
your tickets yet. If not don't forget to do so soon. Our theme for this year
is night animals. The children will be able to explore the school field
looking for clues to complete our quiz and learn more about the night
creatures. This event is always magical especially when it snows. We will of
course have our telescope out if it is a clear night.
All of the family are welcome to come along anytime between 5.30 pm and 7
pm (or stay the whole time). Wrap up warm and bring a torch. The children must
be accompanied by an adult at all times.
There will be frankfurters in rolls, soup and warm drinks on sale
under the Reception garden roof which could save you cooking tea that night.
To enable us to cater for numbers please can you indicate below whether you
will be eating or not. Do not worry if you change your mind on the night and
want to eat we will buy a little extra.
To purchase a entrance ticket, for the whole family, please enclose £4 in
an envelope with the form overleaf and send into school. Tickets will be
sent out on Tuesday 20th January.
VACANCYWe are looking for a Lunch
Time Assistant in the school hall. We need someone who enjoys working with
children and has lots of patience. You would be supervising children when they
are eating their lunch and cleaning down tables between sittings . When the
children have finished eating lunch you would need to help put away tables and
make good the school hall for the afternoon session. Perhaps you would like to
join our team.
Please contact the school office for more information or an application
form.
GREETING CARDSAs you know
we have a number of greeting cards for sale. We are going to try and sell
these cards in packs of 10 to other establishments. We need some help on one
afternoon to bag up the cards. If you can help please could you send a note to
the school office indicating which afternoon is best for you. We will then see
which afternoon has the most volunteers and set a date. Thank You

Year 1
We have been learning all about Judaism this week. Following on from last
week's day all about Hanukkah, we have been to visit a Synagogue and made our
own Torah scroll using our class rules.
In Literacy we have been writing the story of Noah's Ark, using everything
we have experienced in our role play area and puppet theatres to help us
remember the whole story. In these credit crunch times we have been counting
our pennies in Maths, thinking about all sorts of ways that we can make up
certain amounts.
Next week we willl be carrying on our work on Judaism, learning about
Shabbat and making Challah bread. We would really appreciate any parent
helpers who are available and willing to lend us a hand making the bread on
Friday morning - it can get a bit messy!
Homework Challenge
In Maths next week we will be learning how to weigh things using scales.
Have a look around your house and see how many different measuring tools you
can find. Would every child bring in a potato to school this week so that they
can weigh it and then compare weights.
LOST PROPERTYPlease ensure all uniform
is labelled clearly so items of lost property can be returned to their owner.

Year 2We hope that the children enjoyed
the Life Education Bus. This helped them to consider their own and others
feelings. We were very pleased to see how able the children were at expressing
their feelings as well as their knowledge regarding their own bodies.
Monday should be really exciting when we climb aboard the HMS Great
Britain. If you are able to help set up the classrooms this Friday, you will
be very welcome. It is important however, that the children do not help, so as
not to spoil the surprise on Monday, as everything will look very different.
There is an additional letter tonight in your child's book bag with a few
reminders about this special day.
Art Club has started this week. There are a few places left for Year Two
children only. These should be children who have not been at Art Club this
year. Art Club is every Thursday in Fox Class. Please contact Mrs Shepherd if
your child is interested.
Next week we will be writing recounts in Literacy, working on quick ways of
adding in Numeracy, continuing our work on Forces in Science, and learning
more about word-processing in ICT.
Homework Challenge
Please see if your child can tell you the time on the o'clock and half
past. What time will it be one hour later? What time was it one hour ago?
Thank you for your support. The Year Two Team.
